India's Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd (BEPL) plans to significantly increase the production capacity of its acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plant in Abu Road, Rajasthan, northwestern India. According to the plan, by March 2026, the production capacity of the plant will reach 200,000 tons/year, which is almost three times the current annual production capacity of 70,000 tons.
In a document submitted to the Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) on April 20, BEPL revealed that the company has entrusted the expansion work to Toyo Engineering Company of Japan, and after in-depth research and evaluation, it has been determined that a larger capacity increase than originally planned can be achieved.
As early as January 2024, BEPL proposed a plan to expand its production capacity to 145,000 tons per year. However, after a detailed analysis by Toyo Engineering Company, they believe that the overall ABS production capacity can reach 200,000 tons/year, which is a more ideal solution than the previous proposal.
BEPL said that the expansion project will be funded through funds accumulated within the company. As for the specific cost of the expansion project, the company will determine it in June. This initiative not only demonstrates BEPL's determination to expand production scale, but also lays a solid foundation for its future development in the ABS field.
